Fans weirded out by Zac Efron’s ‘jarring’ new face in Netflix movie

Zac Efron‘s appearance is once again sparking questions among fans, after he appeared to look drastically different in his latest movie.

Social media buzzed with reactions to the actor’s transformed look after they saw him in his new Netflix movie, ‘A Family Affair’, co-starring Nicole Kidman and Joey King.

“What happened to Zac Efron? He looks like an entirely different person,” one fan tweeted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, sharing a clip of Efron, 36, in the film.

“I just saw Zac Efron’s extreme new face and felt compelled to study it in more detail,” another fan commented.

“I am trying to watch ‘A Family Affair’ and I’m finding it so hard. What on earth did Zac Efron do to his face? I have tried but I can never get used to looking at it,” another viewer tweeted.

Nicole Kidman, 57, also faced similar scrutiny over her appearance in the film.

“Watching #AFamilyAffair on Netflix and can’t stop staring at Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron’s horrendous plastic surgery. Neither one of them looks like themselves,” one tweet read.

Another person said, “What in tf happened to Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron’s faces? They look like wax figures.”

“Cute movie, but Nicole’s hair and Zac’s face are both equally jarring and distracting,” a different fan added.

Efron addressed the plastic surgery rumors in a September 2022 interview with Men’s Health. He revealed that he broke his jaw around 2018, which caused the muscles in his face and jaw to enlarge.

“The masseters just grew,” Efron explained. “They just got really, really big.”

The High School Musical star also mentioned that his mom, Starla Baskett, informed him about the plastic surgery speculation.

“If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do, I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work,” he said in the interview.

“It was funny. It sucks. I almost died, but we’re good,” he said in November 2022.

Despite Efron’s explanations, celebrity facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Rizk speculated to The New York Post last year that the Iron Claw actor might have undergone additional procedures.

“He probably took the opportunity, in addition to correcting it [his jaw], to do something better,” Rizk said. “He might have had jaw advancements where they pull the chin a little bit more forward because his chin looks a little bit more prominent. Or a chin implant or mandibular angle implants [in the lower jaw] or all of the above.”

Rizk also suggested that Efron “had some type of brow lift or he had Botox” and “most likely” got filler injected into his cheeks.
